I’ve begun to read the complete Oscar Wilde at work during lunch, and I must say that it’s every bit the delight that I expected.  He may be quickly rising in the ranks to bump right up beneath Heinlein (but not to displace him – nay, I’m not that wild and capricious!).  And I think I like them both for the same reason.  It’s not that they’re excellent writers who write about interesting things (they are and they do, but that’s not a small category), but that they’re so quotable.  They both intentionally sprinkle their prose with pithy little gems suitable for cocktail parties (because hells know I go to a lot of cocktail parties) or putting in forum posting signature lines.
